Born Dwight Arrington Myers on May 24, 1967, Heavy D was a pioneering figure in hip hop and one of the genre’s most influential artists. As the frontman of Heavy D and the Boyz, he brought a distinctive sound to the hip-hop scene in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Known for his smooth flow and positive energy, Heavy D was also an actor and philanthropist. He tragically passed away on November 8, 2011, leaving behind a legacy that still resonates in the music world.
