Description
For your consideration is this Captain America #71 full-color 11” x 17” print, hand signed by Golden Age comic legends Ken Bald and Allen Bellman. This exclusive artwork, reproduced on high-quality glossy archival stock, marks the only known collaboration between Bald (penciler) and Bellman (inker). Both signatures were obtained at private signings in 2017 and are certified authentic by JSA (James Spence Authentication).
Ken Bald began his comics career in 1941 at Fawcett, working on Captain Marvel, Bulletman, and Captain Midnight. After serving as a decorated WWII Captain, he was recruited by Stan Lee to Timely Comics (later Marvel), where he contributed to iconic titles such as Captain America, The Human Torch, Namor, and Miss America, and co-created Namora. He holds the Guinness World Record as the “Oldest Artist to Illustrate a Comic Book Cover.”
Allen Bellman, also a pillar of Timely’s Golden Age, started drawing backgrounds on Captain America at just 18 and went on to work on The Patriot, The Destroyer, Marvel Mystery Comics, Young Allies, and more. A lifelong advocate for comics history, Bellman often stated with pride: “Timely/Marvel — I was there!”
This signed print honors two of the most important creators from the Golden Age and commemorates their rare joint contribution to the Captain America legacy.
