Huey Lewis and the News were one of the most successful and influential American rock bands of the 1980s. The band wrote and performed The Power of Love specifically for Back to the Future, where it became the film’s signature song, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning an Academy Award nomination. Huey Lewis also wrote and performed Back in Time for the film, which plays over the closing credits. In addition, he made a memorable on-screen cameo as a Battle of the Bands judge, making his connection to Back to the Future both musical and cinematic.
