Tom Savini is widely regarded as one of the most influential special makeup effects artists in film history. Nicknamed the “Godfather of Gore,” his innovative practical effects changed the horror genre forever. His credits include Dawn of the Dead, Friday the 13th, Maniac, The Burning, Day of the Dead, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Creepshow, and From Dusk Till Dawn. Beyond his effects work, he has also built an accomplished career as an actor and director, including directing the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead. Savini also portrayed The Creep, the iconic ghoul who serves as the host of Creepshow 2, bringing Stephen King and George A. Romero’s horror anthology to life with one of the genre’s most recognizable characters.
